WMF 1100s bean to cup coffee machine black and silver model front view

WMF introduced the 1100s in mid-2017 to bring a premium offering to the lower end of the market, and it’s proven a big hit. The WMF 1100s is not only an affordable option for small offices, it also makes a great cup of coffee and can produce a fantastic hot chocolate! As it’s relatively new, some users report that the machine can be a bit fiddly from a software point of view.

We like the WMF 1100s so much that it’s actually one of the coffee machines we keep in the Bibium office and use most regularly. To find out why we like this WMF bean-to-cup coffee machine so much, you need to look no further than the WMF 1100s page.

Jura JX8 bean to cup coffee machine black and silver model front view

Jura’s new JX8 can make a lot of coffee for not a lot of money. Capable of making up to 100 cups a day, it comes in as the cheapest machine on a per-drink basis. Introduced in early 2018 as a sort of replacement for the Jura XJ9, it looks sharp and gets the job done for any smaller office. Like all Jura machines, though, it can’t make hot chocolate.

We reviewed the Jura JX8 and thought it great job of building upon the success and quality of the Jura coffee machines that came before it.

Jura WE8 bean to cup coffee machine black and silver model front view

Introduced in 2017 as Jura moved a couple of its smaller commercial bean to cup coffee machines into their domestic machine category, the Jura WE8 has been immensely popular with small offices. It’s the joint least expensive coffee machine on our list and features the highest overall rating. If 30 drinks a day is plenty for your small office, this is a great option.

    Small Office Coffee Machine Comparison

Now that you’ve had a bit of an introduction to the best bean to cup coffee machines for smaller offices, here’s how they stack up along a variety of different attributes. Remember, these are based on independent reviews by users like yourself.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the Jura WE8 does very well here. It’s a smaller coffee machine that’s very easy to use, and it does its job well. There’s no plumbing to worry about either, which means there’s not much room for things going wrong.

The WMF 1500s and WMF 1100s are quicker to make milky coffee drinks (cappuccino, latte, flat white) than either the three Jura fresh milk machines or the soluble milk Coffetek Vitale. However, the WE8 comes out best of the rest with a cappuccino clocking in at 56 seconds. The WMF 1500s is a real workhorse with a capacity of over 200 espresso drinks per hour.

    Machine Model | Espresso (seconds/drink) | Cappuccino (seconds/drink) Coffetek Vitale | 40 | 65 Jura Giga X3 | 38 | 83 Jura JX8 | 48 | 78 Jura WE8 | 45 | 56 WMF 1500s | 17 | 30 WMF 1100s | 20 | 40

    Ease of Use

Perhaps the most important factor for a good small office bean to cup coffee machine, the Jura WE8 and WMF 1500s take top prize again. Both feature one-touch drinks, but the WMF 1500s can make hot chocolate, while the WE8 can’t.

    Value for Money

Important to any penny-pinching office manager, a new bean to cup coffee machine has to be great value for money. Every machine on this list ranges from 2.3p to 4.7p per drink made, so none of them are really bad value for money, but value for money is about more than just price — quality is a big factor as well. So unsurprisingly, the machines that rank highest are either the least expensive or offer something extra (the Jura Giga X3 includes a three-year warranty).

Based on the scores above, the Jura WE8 ranks highest overall among these six bean to cup coffee machines. However, that won’t do you much good if you need more than 30 drinks a day. So which machine is best for you?

...the Jura WE8 if you don’t need to make too much coffee; ...the WMF 1500s if you work in an office that is growing or you want to spend money for the best; ...the Jura Giga X3 if you don’t want to have to worry about extra service and maintenance agreements; ...the WMF 1100s if you want a premium machine at an affordable price; ...the Jura JX8 if you want a mid-range machine to make a good volume of drinks; ...the Coffetek Vitale if you just want something that makes a decent coffee and don’t want to spend a tonne.
